Updated October 1, 2010
General Information:
The New Bedlam Project is published bi-annually: June 15th, November 15th.
Stories and poetry not meeting the following guidelines will be deleted unread, and receive only the auto-response.
Our reading periods are now:
June issue - 1 Oct-30 Nov
November issue - 1 Apr-30 May
We expect to publish 2-3 poems, up to 5 flash, up to 5 shorts and 2 long stories per issue, as well as guest spots from various residents of New Bedlam.
** We will not be accepting submissions during our regular reading period due to these changes, but will open again for the regular reading period in April. **What we want:
All submissions must take place in the fictional town of New Bedlam, which has no specific geographical location other than north of Missouri, east of Utah, south of Nunavut and west of Kentucky. All writers are expected to refrain from giving any specific location.
Two maps of New Bedlam are provided on the About New Bedlam page. When describing New Bedlam (if necessary) in your story, please refer to the map that fits your timeframe.
Stories and poetry can take place in any timeframe, although be forewarned, we'll expect steampunk to be Victorian, and sci-fi to be somewhat futuristic (current science to future sci-fi).
No multiple or simultaneous submissions in fiction. No more than two poems per submission.
Reprints are not considered for obvious reasons. At this point, non-fiction and artwork are not required. Please do not query.
